ADRA Submits Water Supply Feasibility Study Reports

Member for Yangoru-Saussia and Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru thanked ADRA for their partnership with the District Development Authority to improve the lives of the people in the District in line with the National WASH Policy.

ADRA country manager, Darren Yorio today (Tuesday 20th February) submitted three completed water supply feasibility study reports to Mr Maru.

Projects to improve women, girls’ lives

Through this objective, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) rolled out projects in 9 local level governments in Kavieng district, including coastal areas.

In most communities throughout Papua New Guinea, women and girls perform the traditional role of collecting water for drinking, cooking and cleaning; this project will provide new water wells as well as ventilated toilet systems for women and girls who walk long distances to collect water.

Adult literacy opens doors

The course was delivered by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Papua New Guinea as part of the Papua New Guinea-Australia Decentralisation and Service Delivery Partnership.

"We are pleased to be working with Papua New Guinean churches to address low literacy rates in the country. We know this is a major barrier to employment and development,” said Brendan Peace, Counsellor from the Australian High Commission.
