PNG crowd impresses international rugby league heavies

Australia Rugby League Commission chairman John Grant and 2017 Rugby League World Cup chairman, Dr George Peponis OAM were in Port Moresby last weekend to watch the 2017 RLWC second Pool C match between PNG LNG Kumuls and Ireland.

“The near 15,000 crowd made for an exhilarating experience that attests to the significance of international rugby league in PNG,” says Grant.

Dr Peponis, who was on his first visit to PNG and a rugby league game here, said: “It was an unforgettable experience.

Lachlan Lam will make his debut for the PNG LNG Kumuls starting line-up for this weekend’s final Pool game against USA in Port Moresby.

Lam will become Kumul No. 283 when he dons the No. 6 jersey in PNG’s final pool game against USA this Sunday (Nov 12) at the Oil Search National Football Stadium.

Lam will become the 2nd father/son Kumuls after James Segeyaro achieved this feat after his dad Ifisoe, Kumul No. 70.

James became Kumul No. 282 in the 1st game against Wales.
