2016 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

The match was played in front of a crowd of 9,231  who were out to support the home side and witness their last appearance in the tournament.

PNG's only goal was scored through forward Nicollete Ageva who made history scoring PNG's first goal in the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup underway in Port Moresby.

Korea DPR dominated the game leading at half time 4-1 and scoring three more goals in the second half.

The Koreans were the first to score six minutes into the game through forward Un Sim Ri to open up the scor board 1-0.

They wasted no time attacking the Sweden goal mouth but missed two goals in the first six minutes of the match in Group A of the 2016 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Both teams have won and lost one match each and they played a fast game tonight with a lot of aggression on both sides between the players.

A penalty to Sweden saw a corner kick forward Stina Blackstenius (9)  head the ball into Brazil's goal mouth in the 13th minute putting Swedes in front 1-0.

Brazil came back equalising the score at 1-all in the 30th minute with a goal from Gabi Nunes.

PNG is currently behind Korea DRP 4-1 at halftime in the last round of Group A matches.

Ageva scored a memorable goal 12 minutes into the game to level the score 1-1.

Korea DPR was the first to score six minutes into the game through forward Un Sim Ri to open up the score board 1-0.

PNG bounced back to score its first goal in the tournament through Ageva.

Ageva made a clear shot sweeping the ball past the defenders' goal keeper straight through the net surprising many fans.

The crowds got onto their feet cheering the home team on.

Speaking at the post- match press conference, coach Lopez said his side unfortunately didn't carry out their gam plane well in the midfield.

Nigeria coach Peter Dedevbo was happy with his girls saying this was the best match they've played so far in the competition.

Player of Match Chinwendu Ihezuo was overwhelmed for their win thanking God for it.

"God did it for us. I feel very excited and happy”, the overwhelmed player of the match said in tears.

Top team South Korea, in red   is led by captain Un Hwa Kim.

The PNG side in yellow is being led by captain Yvonne Gabong.

A crowd of 5,449 is out to support the home team.

Many fans on the stands have expressed support for the PNG side despite their two previous loses.

The Koreans will be hoping to score a big margin tonight but PNG is also out to put pressure and maintain their defense.

Both teams registered one goals each in the first half of the match.

Spain's midfielder Alba Redonzo scored the first and only goal against Nigeria in the 5th minute.

Nigeria responded with its first goal in the 11th minute which was scored by midfielder Ihuoma Onyebuchi leveling the scores at 1-all.

Going into the second half on equal points, Nigeria put the Spaniads under pressure in the early minutes of the match.

The girls in red suffered their third loss in the tournament while Japan has made it through to the quarter finals.

Japan scored through Yui Hasegawa, top scorer Mami Ueno, Honoka Hayashi and Hina Sugita.

Ueno now has four goals to her name in this tournament.

Japan showed no mercy taking the lead at half time 2-0 in this last round of the group matches.

Hasegawa opened the score board for Japan scoring in the 25th minute of the match in front of a crowd of 5,439 people.

It was a good start to the match with both teams having equal possession of the ball in the first three minutes of the match.

Nigeria's Lillian Tule received a yellow card in the 5th minute which Spain used in its advantage.

Nigeria responded with its first goal in the 11th minute which was scored by midfielder Ihuoma Onyebuchi leveling the points at one all.

PNG will take on favourites South Korea in the final match of Group A tonight (Sunday, November 20) at the National Football Stadium, Port Moresby.

The visitors have nothing to lose in Sunday’s game but PNG will be hoping to at least score a goal in the tournament on home soil.

Unbeaten North Korea is leading the group points ladder while PNG is yet to secure a win and put a mark on the score board.

In PNG’s previous encounters, the host nation was humiliated by Brazil in their first match 9-0 and defeated by Sweden 6-0 in the second match.

The Group A match will kick off tonight at 7pm local time (Sunday, November 20) at the PNG Football Stadium which has a seating capacity of 5 000.

Both teams share three points however Brazil is running second to North Korea due to points for and against.

Both teams have each registered a loss and a win so far in the tournament.

Brazil defeated PNG 9-0 in their first match but lost to North Korea 4-2 in the second match.

Sweden lost to North Korea in their first game and defeated PNG 6-0 in the second game.
