What’s coming up for the SP PNG Hunters

The SP PNG Hunters will represent the state of Queensland following their impressive and historic 12-10 victory in the Intrust Super Cup grand final.

The team travels to Sydney on Friday to face off with Penrith Panthers in the Intrust State clash to determine an Australian champion rugby league team.

The SP PNG Hunters, have become a real force to be reckoned with in Australian rugby league.

The team had a final training run for the season at the NFS yesterday under the ever watchful eyes of their ever green coach, Michael Marum.

The Hunt is on for the overall Australian rugby league title this Sunday, against the Penrith Panthers reserve grade.

The match will be played as a curtain raiser to the 2017 NRL grand final between the Melbourne Storm and North Queensland cowboys.

It is the ultimate goal of the PNG Rugby Football League to have a PNG team in the NRL, the world’s number one league competition.

SP PNG Hunters may be a couple of years away from fulfilling that dream, but playing the curtain raiser to the 2017 NRL grand final is a step closer to achieving that dream.

For the Hunters local boys, they grew up idolising NRL players and this Sunday’s match is the closest they can get to rubbing shoulders with rugby league’s best.
