Watson Boas perseveres

Despite his shoulder injury, Watson Boas was a force to be reckoned with in the round 22 challenge against the Tweed Heads Seagulls on Sunday.

The younger of the Boas brothers had suffered a shoulder injury during their round 21 clash against the Souths Logan Magpies on August 5th.

After their encounter with the Souths Logan Magpies at Davies Park, 24-year-old Watson returned to PNG the following day with his arm in a sling.

A concerned Coach Michael Marum said he would be taken to x-ray as soon as possible.

He was also unsure whether the younger Boas would be able to play against the Tweed Heads Seagulls on August 12th.

However, when the round 22 lineup was revealed on August 7th, Boas was named alongside his elder brother at the halves.

After undergoing further tests, he was cleared to take the field with his teammates, and impress he did when he outran Seagulls defenders to further extend his team’s lead.

Apart from his recent shoulder injury, he also suffers from an old right leg injury that flares up from time to time.

However, for the halfback, it’s all about the power of the mind.

Meantime, after this Sunday’s match, Coach Marum said for the first time, no player was placed on report.

“Which is good. We need all our players to be in training in contention for the selection for this weekend’s game,” he said.
