The 14-man squad will consist of four players that played in the 2015 ICC Under 19 World Cup Qualifier in Malaysia: Daure William Aiga Aiga, Vagi Karaho, Sinaka Harry Arua and Kevau Nou Tau.
All the players are based in Port Moresby except for Kostas Dai Boe, who currently resides in Cairns, Australia.
CPNG’s Chairman of Selectors, Daniel Faunt, was excited at this new crop of players selected for the upcoming tour.
“With the (ICC EAP) World Cup qualifying coming up in August, we are pleased that the Garamuts will get the opportunity to play against quality opposition in Queensland,” said Faunt.
“This tour is developmental in nature and we hope that the squad can develop their skills and obtain much needed match experience.
“We missed out on the last (ICC Under 19) World Cup and we intend this time around to give the Garamuts every opportunity to prepare for qualification.
“In looking forward, the selectors are also conscious of growing our pipeline of players so we can raise our bench strength at senior level also.”
The Garamuts will fly to Brisbane next Friday, 31st March, where they will play two matches against Sunshine Coast, one match against the South Queensland Under 18 and one match against the North Queensland Under 18. All matches will be 50 over matches.
This tour is in preparation for the 2018 ICC Under 19 World Cup East Asia Pacific (EAP) Qualifier in Apia, Samoa, in August this year where the HEBOU PNG Under 19 Garamuts will be vying to qualify for their eighth (8th) ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup.
