Traffic police steps up in for FIFA games

All police personnel will be on standby to assist with traffic police as police operations gear up for the upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Assistant police commissioner of traffic operations Jerry Frank informed PNG Loop that all pre-operation orders have been issued to all units around the nation’s capital.

Frank advises all Moresby city residents to be mindful of the two week international sporting event that will take place in the city.

He says that police officers have all been briefed and are carrying out prerequisite operations leading up to the November 11 start of event.

The city has for the past three weeks seen an increase in road blocks and vehicle checks as well as more patrol vehicles out and about the city.

NCD/Central Police Commander Sylvester Kalaut says that police are ready for the FIFA World Cup and also called on all residents to work alongside the police to ensure that all goes well.

All police are out on full force both on the roads and around the city with residents now advised to also be mindful as teams arrive in anticipation of the matches.
