Tigers make time for Cheshire Home children

Reigning champions Lae Snax Tigers brought smiles to all when they visited the Cheshire Home in Port Moresby this morning.

The players with the coach and officials took the time to sit with the children and share goodie bags containing food, drinks and Tigers merchandise.

Inclusive Education Program Coordinator, Suemylee Uriah, said it really meant a lot to the 108 children of Cheshire Inclusive School.

“We only see these players on TV, so for the children here to actually meet them is a really big thing.

“It will motivate them and make them see that commitment and discipline will take them places and give them the belief that they too can be whatever they want to be.”

Tigers second-rower, Rex Yallom, enjoyed the time spent at Cheshire Home.

“We’re happy that we gave the children hope in their lives. We have the talent to play rugby league so we were happy to share our experiences with them, put light in their lives and make them feel part of the community.”

The Melanesian Club Championship match between the Lae Snax Tigers and Nadi Aviators will kick off at 1pm on Saturday at the National Football Stadium.
