SI gears up for tough encounter

The Solomon Islands are not expecting anything different when they take on a fired up PNG Kapuls this afternoon.

But coach Felipe Vega-Arango says his team will fight and push on as hard as they can to get the win over PNG.

“The first match was really intense. I don’t expect anything different. I guess this game is going to be very much the same as the last one.

“PNG are a good side, so I expect there to be another battle again,” said Vega-Arango

Solomon Islanders’ skipper Henry Fa'arodo Jr shared the same sentiment, saying this afternoon’s game will definitely be just as tough as the first.

“Coming back here does bring back memories of the Nations Cup. For me, being part of the team, it motivates me when I come back here knowing about the job at hand.

“The feeling in camp is different after coming off a hard fought win over the weekend. The boys are committed. They have a cause. We just need to turn up and play how we want to play.

“We know what PNG are capable of and we will try our best to get the result we want. I’m expecting a very entertaining match,” said Fa'arodo Jr.

This afternoon’s game will kick off at 5pm at the PNG Football Stadium, Port Moresby.
