PNGFA club championship dates set

The revived PNGFA National Club Championship will be played in each region and will kick off next week in the Highlands region, says PNGFA competition manager Simon Koima.

He urged all member associations to prepare as dates and venues have been set for this tournament.

“All club nominations and required registration with the participation fee of K500 per team must be submitted to Papua New Guinea Football Association,” said Koima.

“It’s compulsory to all MA’s and associate members to endorse a club for both men and women that were minor premiers in their local league in 2018 to participate in the Championships.”

He said PNGFA’s move to revive the club championship would allow players to be exposed to a higher level of football.

“The championships will be played annually starting this year onwards so that players can be exposed,” he added.

The dates and the venues of the Championships will be as follows:

  • Highlands Region – 26 to 29 June – Goroka, National Sports Institute
  • NGI Region – 27 to 30 June – Kimbe, PNGFA Academy
  • Momase Region – 3 to 7 July – Lahi Football Association
  • Southern Region – Date (to be announced) – NCDPSSA, Papua New Guinea Institute of Public Administration (PNGIPA)
