PNG struggled on day one of the 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championship, losing all their pool matches.
The results:
England def. PNG 12 – 4.
Tonga def. PNG 20-12.
Samoa def. PNG 16-14.
Tonga finished top in Group B of the Men’s U23s and Women’s competitions, while the Australian representative teams topped Group A in the Men’s U23s, Women’s and Physical Disability competitions.
The Rugby League 9's tournament was held at Dolphin Stadium on 23 and 24 February 2018, in the lead-up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
