PNG athletes inspired to work together

Papua New Guinea athletes were inspired to work together with PNG High Performance and PNG sports Foundations after a successful fun day held over on the weekend.

The event aims at creating awareness for elite athletes in preparation for international and regional events like the Mini-Pacific Games, Vanuatu 2017, the XVI Pacific Games, Tonga 2019 and the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast 2018.

More than 20 stalls were on show with just about 100 athletes mingling with the staff from the PNG Athletes Commission led by former Barramundis captain Chris Amini.

High Performance Sport Papua New Guinea had the opportunity to showcase their programs and services of which most athletes knew already.

Marketing and PR Officer of PNG High Performance Center Raphaela Baki Kaore said they were pleased to see former athletes, Current and young ones participant and interact during the event

“That shows that the young athletes are more interested in knowing about their self-Talents and what they are capable of in their favourite sports.

“Hosting such an event is a great opportunity to celebrate the power of sport, build community, and

Facilitate healthy, active living,” Kaore said.

Adding that, for this year, we have encouraged organizations, communities and schools and most of all athletes in the NCD to realise their own talents which we have been successful though.

“When sport is done right, it instils character in our kids, strengthens our communities and increases opportunities for excellence.”

It was a proud day for High performance PNG and Sports Foundation with their programs ran successfully during the organised event.
