PM visits Shangai University of Sport

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill visited the Shanghai University of Sport, last Friday.

In his capacity as a Sports Minister, O'Neill expressed interest in setting up more comprehensive tertiary education courses in areas such as sports medicine and physical training.

He said there is huge benefits, not only for high performance athletes, but also for school sports programs and sporting codes around the country in this regard.

He said it would be an avenue for our young and athletic Papua New Guineans to show case their enthusiasm in sports.

“This is exactly what our young sports men and women need in Papua New Guinea.

“Such health promoting facilities and incentives like these may encourage our people to focus more on sports and less on unhealthy lifestyles affecting our communities.”

The PM visited the School of Tennis, where he was greeted by young Papua New Guineans training for the upcoming 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa and later was given the honor to tour and take in China's history in the different fields of Marshall Arts.

He was accompanied by spouse Linda Babao-O'Neill and the other official government delegation including Communications Minister Sam Basil.
