'Parker ticks all the boxes'

Hughie Fury's trainer believes Joseph Parker brings more threats than any heavyweight boxer in the world.

Parker defends his WBO world heavyweight title against the unbeaten Fury in Manchester on September 24.

Fury's father and trainer, Peter Fury, gave a frank interview with BWTM Sports on Friday where he offered plenty of praise for Parker – along with a few warnings.

"I think he probably brings more of a threat than any heavyweight out there," Peter Fury said of Parker who is 23-0 with 18 knockouts as he puts his belt on the line for a second time.

"He has got fast hands, he's got fast feet, he's a good boxer, seems to take a shot well ... ticks all the boxes, he's a good fighter, a good young fighter.

Fury said his son had gone through a brutal sparring regime against a variety of opponents hand-picked to produce Parker's mix of skills.

"He's prepared for Parker to come on aggressive, he's prepared for Parker to come on a box, he's prepared for Parker to come and try an knock him out."

Fury felt there was plenty of intrigue in the bout, though emphasised both fighters were young enough to move on if they lost their unbeaten record.

"I think it's a 50-50 fight this. I think it's who wants it most and the first one who makes a big mistake ...,"Fury told BWTM Sports.

"This fight is up for grabs but I think Hughie will shock the world. I think you are going to see something special in Hughie Fury, you're not going to see the Hughie Fury of the past in this fight."

Fury said his son was over his well-documented health issues and in the best physical condition of his career.

"There is not an ounce of concern in my mind that Hughie Fury can't do 12 rounds at any pace.

"We're coming 100 per cent ready to take that belt, there's no half-heartedness here. I think a lot of people will be surprised."
