A netball team with a message

DFCDR eagles is a netball team with a purpose.

Other than just representing the department for Community Development and Religion in the public servants netball competition, the team is a tool for awareness.

Their new uniforms, designed by Raymond Raka, has messages from the department secretary Anna Solomon, printed on it.

On the side are words “Stop GBV”, while in front reads “protect children, secure future”.

These uniforms were launched on Friday, in the presence of Secretary Solomon and Soroi Eoe, the Minister for Youth, Religion and Community Development.

Its launch coincided with the launch of the media and communication strategy, which also includes branding as a tool for awareness.

Team Coordinator, Mauri Raka, said their uniform would now make awareness easier for them.

She said most women taking part in the competition experience problems, the department aim to address.

“Many don’t know what the department is about. This is good awareness. Next, we’ll do pamphlets and the girls can hand out at the courts,” Raka said.

In the meantime, both teams of DFCDR eagles are running first in their respective divisions, division 3 and 6.

They have two more games to the grand finals.
