Minj Bulldogs in top form

The Minj Bulldogs, made up of a majority of former Waghi Tumbe players, proved to be in top form during the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup grand final on Sunday.

In the historical match, when two Jiwaka teams faced off in the 2018-2019 Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup grand final, the team from Minj were a force to be reckoned with when they trampled the Banz Bulls, 21-6.

Straight after the official kick off by Governor William Tongamp, the boys from Minj started attacking the Banz defenders until their perseverance paid off with a try.

The boys from Minj were too swift and too agile for their younger Banz counterparts.

They relentlessly attacked their rivals’ line until the score was 16-nil by half time.

A return from second half saw numerous fumbles by the Banz Bulls, who were kept in a state of panic by the insistent Minj team.

The Bulls thankfully managed to sneak one in, in the dying minutes of the match, but it was too little too late as the Bulldogs celebrated a triumphant scoreline of 21-6.

In third place was the team from NCD, Border Storms, who beat Mendi Bulldogs 10 to 6.

The Minj Bulldogs walked off with the Ipatas Cup as well as K50,000, Banz Bulls scooped K25,000, K15,000 was awarded to Border Storms and the fourth-placed Mendi Bulldogs brought home K10,000.
