Lewas dispose of Vanuatu with nine wicket win

The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas started off their campaign at the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 – East Asia-Pacific Qualifier 2017 in Japan with a nine wicket win over Vanuatu yesterday.

The young Vanuatu side batted first at the Sano International Cricket Ground but didn’t last long at the crease. Vanuatu was all bowled out for 80.

Alvina Chilia (24) was the best with the bat for Vanuatu.

Lewa’s Right-arm medium pace bowler, Ravina Oa did the damage with figures of 4/14 off her 3.5 overs.

The Lewas were never in any danger in their run chase scoring at seven runs an over to reach the target with 54 balls to spare.

Captain, Pauke Siaka top scored with 31 runs to her name.

In the other match yesterday, Samoa thumped hosts Japan with a ten wicket win.

Vanuatu 80 (19.5) A Chilia 24, Oa 4/14 (3.5) defeated by PNG 1/81 (11) P Siaka 31*, Ruma 20* by 9 wickets.

The Lewas will play Samoa today.
