Lewas cruise to third win

The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas cruised to their third win at the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 – East Asia-Pacific Qualifier 2017, with a five wicket win over Vanuatu yesterday.

Vanutatu were unable to put any solid partnerships together and at the end of 20 overs finished at 8/81.

Opener Judy Avok (47) top scored, falling three runs shy of a half-century after running out of batting partners.

With the ball, Kaia Arua (2/13), Ravina Oa (2/10) and Sibona Jimmy (2/13) finished with two wickets apiece for the Lewas.

Despite losing openers Konio Oala (5) and Tanya Ruma (1), the Lewas, led by their captain Pauke Siaka (33), smashed their way to victory, reaching the target with five wickets in hand and 33 balls to spare.

The Lewas will take on hosts Japan today at Sano International Cricket Ground.
