Kempa dethrone Papaka to win Hekari Central Cup

Goals from Freddy Kepo and older brother Ati, helped Kempa dethrone Papaka 2-1 to win the 2017 Hekari Central Cup this afternoon at the Bisini Grounds.

It was a grand final rematch from last year and and one that was again tipped to go right down to the wire.

Kempa came out firing from the start but just could not find the back of the net.

But it was Papaka who struck first after Numa Kila powered one past Viniga Rupana to put his side in front in the 18th minute.

The boys from Kalo were relentless and continued to dominate possession, testing the limits of keeper Karo Velapo.

It paid off for them in the 39th when Freddy Kepo was left one on one with Velapo, and struck it past him to equalize.

Kempa were right on top of their opponents in the second half and surged home for the match winner.

And it came in the 73rd off the boot of striker Ati slotting it in style past Velapo.

The win for Kempa was sweet revenge and made even sweeter with K8, 000 in prize money.

Papaka settled for K5, 000. Third place went to Kamali who scooped up K1, 000 while Alukuni picked up K500 for finishing fourth.
