Kaputin wins third NCAA title

Rellie Kaputin claimed her third National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 National Title in the long jump with a leap of 6.24m at the National Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday.

This follows her success in the triple jump last year where she won both the indoor and outdoor national titles.

Kaputin wasn’t at her best in the triple jump but still collected six vital points for the team by placing third, and her sixteen points was again the highest contribution from any West Texas A&M University athlete.

The Lady Buffs maintained their position as the number one Division 2 team in the USA after winning the outdoor title last year.

Kaputin can now look forward to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia next month, and then to another achievement, but off the tracks when she graduates from West Texas A&M University in May.

It was an early birthday present with Kaputin turning 25 years old today.
