K80,000 for PNG Swimming Inc.

The Bank South Pacific continues to support swimming in PNG by sponsoring K80,000 to the PNG Swimming Inc. for the annual sponsorship towards the BSP National Aquatic Excellence Program.

The program includes the Kundu Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Target Squads that aims at giving young swimmers the opportunity to progress further in competitive swimming and has been supported by BSP since 2004.

PNGSI President, Elizabeth Wells, upon receiving the sponsorship, thanked BSP for its continued support as it contributed positively to developing young talent in the country.

The event was witnessed by young up and coming swimming stars, executives of PNGSI and BSP representatives at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre (TAIC).

BSP head of marketing, Gorethy Semi, presented the cheque on behalf of the bank, saying BSP is a proud and committed supporter of sports development in PNG and this partnership with PNGSI has nurtured and developed more swimming talent and technical officials for PNG.

BSP has made it possible for PNGSI to continue its BSP FINA Coach Education program on an annual basis to clubs, schools and the general public.

This program is aimed to further upskill coaches and train new volunteers to provide the necessary training programs for the athletes to improve and thus raise the bar for their progression and advancement in their sporting career.
