Isou, Wigmen to play trial match as fundraiser

Fans in Port Moresby will get the chance to see the new Digicel Cup team, PRK Gulf Isou, in action when they take on Kroton Hela Wigmen in a trial match on Sunday.

The event will be held at the Oil Search National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

CEO of the PNGRFL, Reatau Rau, said the trial match will be the curtain raiser to the Intrust Super Cup Round 1 match between SP Hunters and Ipswich Jets.

“The purpose of having this trial match as a curtain raiser is to raise funds for the earthquake hit areas in the Highlands.

“Buckets will be placed at the entry gates and we urge all spectators coming in to drop a kina or two in the buckets.”

Rau said this was the PNGRFL’s way to support the initiative by Mendi Muruks to assist our fellow citizens and families in the affected areas.

The collected amount will be disclosed at half-time during the main game between the Hunters and Jets.

The gates will open at 11.30am with the trial match scheduled to kick off at 12.15pm.
