Finals underway for PMMI Corporate Snooker

The Pacific MMI Port Moresby Corporate Snooker Competition is into its final play offs this week.

After 15 weeks of competition, the minor premiership in the Premier Grade went to PMMI Top shooters.

Rapid Response Dragons took out the minor premiership in A Grade while in the B Grade, the title went to PMMI Turas. To C Grade, Bank PNG Cannons in their first year took out the minor premiership.

In the A Grade, tonight minor premiers RR Dragons meet 2nd placed PMMI Car Club at Q Club while at Laguna Hotel, Phoenix Kasens take on PMMI Titans to see who advances.

The B Grade preliminary finals tomorrow sees PMMI Turas up against Phoenix Kasens at the Lamana Q Club while at the Laguna Hotel, 3rd placed Dragons take on PMMI Car Club with the winner to advance to the next stage.

The C Grade minor premiers BPNG Cannons advance straight to the grand final and will await the winner of PMMI Leftovers and PMMI Car Club, who play their semi-finals next Thursday.

This is due to PMMI Turas being disqualified from the competition after numerous no shows.

Tournament director, Joey Chan, said in the event of a draw in Premier Grade, captains of both teams will nominate a player to play off in a best of three winner takes all game to decide the match.

He also said all four grades must adhere to dress regulations.

“All captains of teams taking part in the finals series are to ensure that their team uniforms must be worn with appropriate pants and shoes.

“Ladies are asked to wear the team uniforms with either long dark slacks or skirts covering at the least the knee or lower,” said Chan.

He said players not in uniforms and not appropriately dressed as required will not be allowed to play.

Meanwhile, high breaks of 32 or more in A Grade and 24 or more in B Grade are yet to be achieved.

Marcus Ng and Nathan Fong have scored 44 and 40 respectively in Premier Grade while in C Grade, Sam Rabura has scored a break of 18.
