FFPNG reaches Gazelle

University of Natural Resources and Environment - Gazelle Football Association has jumped on the Football Federation PNG bandwagon, making it official over the weekend in East New Britain Province.

The launch took place on campus with plenty of entertainment and exhibition matches to mark the day.

Student Representative Council President, Jaspar Daun, welcomed FFPNG to UNRE.

“Thank you John Kapi Natto for coming. Sports is another thing that unites people and builds relationships.

“I am proud to announce that UGFA is owned by the SRC of this university and we regard this association as our newborn baby which we will mould and bring up to be a development pathway for the students, the district of Gazelle and East New Britain Province.”

UNRE Vice Chancellor, Professor John Warren, added on saying it was a proud moment for the university.

“I’m proud of UNRE. I’m proud of this association and I’m really pleased for the pleasure this is going to give so many people moving forward.”

Before the official kick off, President of FFPNG, John Kapi Natto, stressed to UGFA about having passion to continue to drive football forward.

He said FFPNG is all about bringing football to all corners of PNG.

“This is our dream to take football to all the four regions of this country.”

The UGFA will kick off its season proper this weekend. The competition has U15, U17 and men’s and women’s divisions. There are 12 clubs taking part from all over the Gazelle district.

With the official launch, UNRE through the UGFA became the first tertiary institution in PNG to affiliate to FFPNG.
