Fan Zone for World Cup a hit

Football fans in Port Moresby can also experience the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament outside the stadiums through the Fan Zone.

The Fan Zone provides the opportunity for fans to celebrate women’s football and show their support for their favourite teams.

The Local Organising Committee set up a designated area at the Vision City amphitheatre starting over the weekend.

Supporters have been flocking in to take part in fun and exciting activities.

PNG Football Association president, David Chung said on match days, the Fan Zone will be streaming the games live on a giant LED screen.

He said this will give the fans that are not able to watch the matches at the match venues the opportunity to join in the excitement.

“Besides the games we will have traditional dances, host fashion shows and dance competitions.

“There will also be food and beverage booths and our National Supporters will set up different games for the fans to win prizes.

“A central feature of the Fan Zone is our Mini Pitch where we are hosting three mini Live Your Goals Festivals with football skill sessions for girls and boys and much more,” said Chung.

Beside the above, people can also enjoy the recently launched Season 1 of Coke Studio with songs by PNG’s own favourite musicians.

The idea behind the Fan Zone is to bring football to the people and introduce the beautiful game and its commercial affiliates to the general public.
