Digicel renews naming rights sponsorship of Digicel Cup

Digicel PNG today renewed its naming rights sponsorship of the Digicel Cup for a further three years, on top of announcing Digicel TV as the broadcast partner of the competition.

This is the eighth year of Digicel’s sponsorship of the semi-professional rugby league competition.

CEO of Digicel Media & TV, Charlie Clementson said the renewal of sponsorship was part of Digicel’s overall goal to be the home of rugby league in the country.

“We have NRL on TVWAN plus the Hunters games in the Intrust Super Cup as well as the Digicel Cup games.

“It’s the place to watch for all things rugby league. It’s something that we’ve strived to work towards and are really proud of.”

Chairman of the PNG NRLC, Adrian Chow said it was very exciting to continue the partnership with Digicel PNG.

“This agreement allows the PNG NRLC to continue to develop the national rugby league competition.

“PNG is such a diverse country and we feel the national rugby league competition brings all our people together.

“The naming rights agreement provides that financial support for PNG NRLC to continue to develop the game and reach a wider audience.”

Present to witness the signing were the PNG Rugby Football League.

“The Digicel Cup is the bridge between the amateurs and the our professional program. The Hunters and Kumuls would not exist without the Digicel Cup.  Thank you Digicel,“said Chairman of the PNGRFL, Sandis Tsaka.

The 2018 Digicel Cup season will kick off in April.
