Daroa: HP best thing that has happened to PNG sports

President of the Basketball Federation Papua New Guinea (BFPNG), Nick Daroa believes having High Performance Sport PNG (HPS PNG) is the best thing that has happened in sports in the country.

Sharing his thoughts on the involvement of the staff from HPS PNG leading into and during the recent 2017 FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup, Daroa said he had come to understand and appreciate the injection of the HP's programs and input into the teams and individual athletes’ wellbeing and output performance.

“The positive trend has been evident and noticed since 2014 for our sport and the results of both teams earning fourth spot in the 2015 Pacific Games and taking out gold at the 2017 FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup Championship in September.

“HP staff are very professional in their approach and delivery of their work on hand. They are courteous and second to none in working along with the athletes and coaching teams.

“Credit must be given to the leadership hierarchy led by Aaron Alsop and his management team down to everyone involved as I believe HP's input has been a blessing in disguise and a beacon of hope and belief.

“Installing the HP department has been the best thing that has happened for all sports in the country alongside the state of the art facilities, “said Daroa.

BFPNG now turns its focus to the upcoming 2017 Pacific Mini-Games where it will compete in the 3x3 competition in Vanuatu with high expectations of performing well.
