With a vocal crowd behind them, the SP PNG Hunters soared over the Burleigh Bears this afternoon at the National Football Stadium.
Saving the best for last, Adex Wera sprinted towards the Bears’ tryline for a comfortable 20-10 win.

Leo went in for the kill again. Unfortunately, an unsuccessful conversion by Jamal Fogarty kept the scores at 4-10.
Thankfully, the Hunters managed to close the gap through a penalty goal before half time.
A return from second half saw 10 minutes pass with both teams struggling to make a difference, coupled with a number of controversial calls by the referee.
15 minutes in saw a flexible Charlie Simon dive right past the Bears defenders for a much-needed try for the home side.
A successful conversion by the captain put the score at 12-10, with the Hunters barely keeping ahead.
With 9 minutes left, Thompson Teteh makes a return with a try to his name.
Teteh had just resumed play after getting a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle.
With the Hunters now in a comfortable lead of 16-10, it was an added bonus when Adex Wera sprinted over for a victorious finish at fulltime, with the scores at 20-10.
