Cricket PNG confirms Patel no longer Head Coach

Cricket PNG has confirmed Dipak Patel is no longer the Head Coach of CPNG.

This was formally announced in a statement by CEO of CPNG, Greg Campbell.

 “Cricket PNG would like to confirm that Dipak Patel had left his position as the Head Coach after both parties could not agree to terms with an extension to Dipak’s contract.

 “Dipak’s contract was up for renewal as he was contracted to Cricket PNG until August 25, 2017.

“There has been talk of an extension to his contract but unfortunately both could not come to an agreement. These negotiations have been ongoing since March this year,” said Campbell.

During his tenor as CPNG’s Head Coach which started back in August 2014, Patel played a major role in the development of the Hebou PNG Barramundis who are currently sitting in second place on the ICC World Cricket League Championships (WCLC) with two rounds to go.

Other highlights have been:

-       The Hebou PNG Barramundis winning their first ODI Series against Hong Kong in Townsville, Australia in November 2014

-       The Hebou PNG Barramundis winning their debut ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICUP) match against Netherlands in June, 2015

-       The Hebou PNG Barramundis finishing in third position of the 2016 South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) Premier League     

-       The Hebou PNG Barramundis remaining undefeated at home in the ICC ICUP (Namibia) and WCLC (Kenya and Namibia)

-       The Hebou PNG Barramundis defeating English County Team, Yorkshire in a 2-Day fixture in UAE in March

-       The Hebou PNG Barramundis defeating the ACT XI in the Prime Minister’s XI curtain raiser in February
