Conflicting groups to meet with mediators

The two parties currently involved in the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football Union infighting are expected to meet with mediators this week to resolve the issue.

Minister for Sports Justin Tkatchenko said they have planned a meeting with mediators and are waiting for confirmation from the World Rugby Union.

Tkatchenko urged both parties to come together to resolve the issue once and for all.

The mediators, two mediators will be from the PNG Olympic Committee while another will be from World Rugby Union.

Tkatchenko said they will come up with a sensible outcome that both parties can agree upon and then move on in the name of the game.

“It’s very important that we resolve this quickly as we got some big international events coming up in Hong Kong,” the Minister stated.

“We did very poorly in New Zealand because of the lack of preparation and the management and administration infighting and all these is affecting the sport.”

He added that if the management and administration are not functioning well and falling apart then players, the game, spectators as well as sponsors will be affected.
