Coach: Lewas have prepared well and are ready

Coach of the City Pharmacy PNG Lewas, Rodney Maha says the team has prepared well and are ready for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Lewas touched down in Colombo on Wednesday this week and will play two practice matches before the qualifier which starts on February 7.

“We want to be competitive and make it to the top four so we can qualify for the ICC Women's World Cup for the first time.

“We have prepared well and the overall preparations have been better than the last ICC WT20 Qualifier in Thailand a couple of years ago," said Maha.

Maha also gave an insight into the strengths and challenges for the tournament.

“Our strong points will be our bowling and team spirit. Our major challenge will be playing our best cricket all the way to the end.

“It is very crucial for the team and individuals to play well if we are going to advance to the next stage. Without good individual performances the team will not do well,” said Maha.

The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas will start their campaign today, where they will play Sri Lanka Emerging XI in a practice match at the KTZ Ground in Colombo.
