Athletes warned against uninformed drug use

Athletics PNG High Performance is providing anti-doping resources and doping control contacts to assist athletes and coaches make informed decisions on sports doping.

Athletics PNG is strongly advising athletes against the uninformed use of supplements and drugs.

This is important with the numerous international events that PNG Athletics are participating in to avoid positive doping and drug tests.

Doping Control Officers Janet Gimots and Kylie Martins, from the National Sports Institute in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province, are available to assist athletes with anti-doping queries.

All athletes should check with Athletics PNG High Performance and Doping Control Officers before taking any supplements.

They say optimal performance is a result consistent with training and hard work on the track & field.

Furthermore, the rich country of Papua New Guinea produces an unlimited amount of natural foods that can give athletes a competitive edge.
