2-point loss for Hunters

It was a game of missed opportunities for the SP PNG Hunters as they lost in a 2-point margin to the Ipswich Jets yesterday evening.

The Intrust Super Cup round 15 match was a challenging one for both teams as their strengths seemed to match at every turn at the North Ipswich Reserve.

However, things started looking up for the Jets 10 minutes into the game when Wes Conlon scored a penalty goal for the team.

This seemed to be the break that the host team needed as Seb Pandia goes over the line for the first try of the match.

Marmin Barba successfully converted the try, leaving the score at 8-0.

The Hunters were not to be outdone as they relentlessly charged at the Jets’ defence.

Their determination paid off when an Ase Boas kick was caught by a flying Thompson Teteh, who registered the Hunters’ first try. A successful conversion by Watson Boas left the scores at 8-6.

A return from second half also saw numerous missed opportunities from both sides.

The Jets’ attacks started getting aggressive 20 minutes into the second half, but the Hunters stood their ground, keeping them at bay.

The tug-of-war came to an end when the final whistle blew, with the scores remaining at 8-6.
