The Papua New Guinea Swimming Inc will be conducting a clinic for coaches, scheduled for June 28-July 2 in Port Moresby.
PNGSI with FINA, through its Development and Educational programs, and corporate sponsor BSP, will be carrying out a beginners’ level FINA Water Polo Clinic.
The Clinic will coincide with the FINA World Aquatics Day on July 1, where it is hoped a competition will take place.
High performance manager of the Water Polo Program at Queensland Academy of Sport, Aleksandr Osadchuk, will conduct the clinic at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre (TAIC).
“I will be able to provide beginners coaching principles for water polo which include: Coaches role and responsibilities; child-safe practices; discovery learning techniques; training group management and delivery responsibilities; managing and using parents in your coaching; think, act, play philosophy; basic rules and positions for water polo; and fundamental skills development sessions,” said Osadchuk.
President of PNGSI, Liz Wells, said the interest in water polo has grown over the last four weeks, with classes being held on Saturday afternoons from 4-5pm at TAIC, under the guidance of vice president of the PNGSI, Ryan Agnew and coach Eamon Murphy.

The sport of water polo is governed by FINA, the world body of aquatic sports, and is played in over 100 countries.
