minor injuries rule out Johnston and De Belin

Alex Johnston and Jack De Belin have been ruled out of making the PNG PMs XIII.

Team Manager, John Wilshere, said both players will be resting niggling injuries they both carry.

In a media conference Wilshere said both players will not be joining the squad.

“Due to some of the injures they carried through the (NRL) finals they wont be joining the squad because it will them an opportunity to rest and recover for their respective clubs ready for 2019,” he said.

Wilshere said so far the mood camp has been good with the players who joined earl whilst waiting for the rest of squad from overseas.

A host of key players are yet to join the squad such as David Mead, James Segeyaro, Lachlan Lam, Justin Olam, and Wellington Albert.

“The boys have been in camp since Wednesday, everything is going good, the sessions have been fairly light at the moment. (Were) just waiting on a few of the boys who are involved in the NRL Grand Final.

“So we’ve got Justin (Olam) coming, Rhyse Martin, Lachlan Lam, James Segeyaro will join the squad on Monday. David Mead and Wellington Albert are coming from the UK, so once we get those boys in we can certainly get into the game plan and a get ready for the game.”

Wilshere added the camp is building on its success in this years Pacific Test and using that to prepare for the October 6 match.

“We have looked at their squad. The Australians will always field a strong squad. but were not too concerned at the moment on who they’re bringing. What we want to do is build on our performance from the pacific Test match against Fiji and what we did well there which is concentrate on our own game. It’s a relatively young squad and we went our there during that timer and put on a pretty solid performance. So all we want to do is get those right again and hopefully we can produce the same result,” said Wilshere.
