Locke signs with Sunshine Coast in Queensland Cup

Former NRL star Kevin Locke has found a new rugby league home with the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland Cup.

Locke signed with the club despite having a trial with Manly in November.

The club confirmed the deal on Facebook

"The Vantage Homes SC Falcons have signed former Warriors and NZ flyer Kevin Locke on a 1 year deal," the post read.

"The SC Falcons are committed to helping Kevin return to his best football and hopefully a return to the NRL.

"A big thanks to SC Falcons Major Sponsors South East Civil who have helped to make this deal happen.

"Welcome Kev we look forward to seeing you at Sunshine Coast Stadium in the New Year!"

Locke will initially stay with Coach Craig Ingebrigstron.

"You don't get a player knock on your door, which has played eight test matches, very often, so everything has come together really nicely for us," the coach told Noosa News.

"They (Manly) said if he had a full pre-season he may get there and they said talent wise he's outstanding but they don't think his body is ready."

The former Kiwi rep has not played in the NRL since 2014 after spending time in the UK's Super League.

The Falcons are a feeder team of the Melbourne Storm.
