Works, Koroba-Kopiago DDA sign MOU

The Works Department and Koroba-Kopiago District have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads in the District.

The MOU was signed in Port Moresby on October 16th by Works Secretary, David Wereh, and Koroba-Kopiago District Development Authority CEO, Johnston Haguai.

The signing was witnessed by Works Minister Michael Nali and Koroba Kopiago MP and Minister for Immigration and Border Security, Petrus Thomas.

The signing will see the District make available K1 million for maintenance and rehabilitation of roads.

Minister Thomas said for more than 43 years, access roads in the district have been in a very bad state.

He said the Highlands Highway began in Lae and ended ay Koroba, while others in Kopiago have suffered.

This is the fifth agreement with four other similar deals signed.

Minister Nali stated that this is part of the overall National Road Network Strategy.

The maintenance and rehabilitation work is expected to begin soon.
