Women are getting involved in crime says Wagambie Jnr

FEMALES are being involved in crimes – a trend that is now used as a ‘cover’ for their male counterparts.

Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr revealed this following eye witness accounts of women involved in two separate crimes committed so far.

“Female suspects are being used in the commission of crime in the city as cover ups and this is now happening,” Wagambie Jr said.

He said according to eye witnesses, a female suspect was the off sider of the tenth seater that was used as a getaway vehicle during the Lae International Hotel armed robbery two weeks ago.

Wagambie Jr said crimes were being planned and organised with the involvement of females.

He said in another related incident two female suspects and a male were involved in an attempted car theft at Bugandi Secondary School.

The Lae top cop said females were  being used as cover to execute crimes.

Meanwhile, investigations are continuing with arrests soon to be made in relation to the Lae International Hotel armed robbery.

A 57-year-old man has already been detained by police.

The man is believed to be a Human Resource Manager with a company in Lae whose vehicle was used in the armed robbery.

“It comes to our surprise a very high profile company executive’s vehicle was used in the armed robbery,” Wagambie Jr said at a press conference held today.

He also said many criminals are now targeting big business houses and already a warning has been issued to companies to be security conscious.

Wagambie Jr defused claims of a syndicate carrying out the recent clean getaway armed robberies.

On Monday eight suspects armed with homemade guns held up staff of Papindo Top town at around 4.50pm when the shop was closing.

Wagambie Jr said no one raised the alarm since the shop was about to close and it happened so fast the suspects walked out wearing Papindo staff uniforms to make it look like an ordinary day after work.

It is believed the suspects got away in a waiting vehicle.
