Wanted suspects captured in Madang

Three out of eight prime suspects wanted for armed robberies in Lae were captured in Madang earlier this week.

The suspects had conducted an armed robbery in a shop at Karkar Island and had fled by boat to Sarang village, located along the North Coast Road of Madang.

Talidig Police with the assistance of Lae based MS 13 apprehended three prime suspects of the eight who were armed with a factory made shotgun and home-made shotgun.

The suspects, after realising that they had nowhere to run, surrendered to a Foursquare Church pastor.

Police report that the suspects were identified as; one being an escapee who had shot at Police in a major armed robbery early last year (2017), another an ex-convict wanted for a string of armed robberies last year and another being of interest to Police for an armed robbery at Siassi, Morobe Province.

All three are Lae based.

Lae police state that since stepping up their operations in the province, it may have forced the gang out of Lae. 

The three were transported back to Lae the same day and have been arrested and charged for their previous offences committed, and sent to Buimo Correctional Services.
