Traffic police preps progressing well: Director

The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary’s traffic police preparations for APEC 2018 are progressing well and on target.

Director Traffic, acting Superintendent Joe Joseph, says trainings and graduation are signs of progress and the RPNGC is working towards achieving its target in being better prepared for the 2018 APEC meeting.

Director Joseph made this comment last Friday at the 4th batch of motor cyclist graduation ceremony at the Four-Mile Traffic headquarters in Port Moresby. This was part of the preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting motor cycle escorts.

“Every time when there is training it shows progress and we are happy. Because of APEC, more developments are taking place.

“All policemen and women must appreciate it and look after the assets that are on hand,” acting Superintendent Joseph said.

The Australian Federal Police has been very instrumental in the RPNGC APEC preparation. They have trained 30 motorcyclists; with more yet to be trained to meet the APEC motorcade requirements. The Traffic unit is an important security component that will be in the forefront during the APEC meetings.
