Temporary relocation of NCD/Central Command

The interior of the building housing the NCD/Central Divisional Command, Prosecution and the Sexual Offence has been badly affected when the fire ravaged it on Thursday night.

Although they will be relocating to a temporary location, the officers will not be fully affected.

The building is unfit for human habitation right now.

Confirmed to be a case of arson, the NCD/Central Commander, Sylvester Kalaut, said his office has lost most of its manual files and reports as well as some already in the system.

Thankfully, the fire service was there in time to save whatever was left and retrieved some of the hard drives.

“We are going to try to recover some of those lost files if we can.”

The sexual offence squad has also been affected, with water dripping down from the commander’s office floor when fire fighters were trying to put out the fire. This will have to be drained out.

The suspected arsonist was apprehend by police the same night of the fire and is currently in police custody.

“She will be dealt with accordingly under the law,” Kalaut said.
