Teachers to resume duty on January 23

Teachers across the country are expected to resume work on Monday January 23, a week before students return to classes.

The Teaching Service Commission last week released a notice to all teachers to resume work on day one of the resumption week.

TSC said teachers are to return to work and to the position they were teaching in 2016.

Teachers in new positions are also expected to complete relevant forms before students resume classes.

“It is very important that you all resume on time and complete your resumption form and be on the payroll.

“Any teacher who does not resume on day one of the school year will not receive PBSS in 2017 and portion of leave fares if due for leave this year,” the commission said.

Term 1 will consist of 11 weeks and run from Jan 30 – April 13. Term 2 will be nine weeks from April 24 – June 23.

Polling for the 2017 General Elections will be from June 24- July 8.

Term Three will have 11 weeks of teaching from July 10- Sept 22 while Term  Four is from Oct 2- Dec 8 with 10 weeks.

Grade 10 Written Expression exam will be on June 8 while Grade 12 Written Expression exam will be on Aug 7.

The Grade 10 Lower Secondary school certificate examination will be from Oct 9-13.

Grade 12 Upper Secondary school certificate examination will be from Monday Oct 16 to Wednesday Oct 25.

The Grade 8, Certificate of Basic Education examination will be from Monday Oct 30- Thursday Nov 4.
