Suspect arrested over 12yo’s rape

Police in Manus have arrested a suspect alleged to be involved in a pack rape incident early this month at Ward 4 in Lorengau.

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly pack raped on July 8th by three men at ward 4 in Lorengau.

Manus provincial police commander (PPC), Chief Inspector David Yapu, said one suspects had been picked up and arrested, while the other two will be arrested soon.

The incident that took place last Monday saw the 12-year-old girl sexually penetrated in three different houses.

“The first suspect, after having his turn, took the victim to the house of the second suspect who forcefully sexually penetrated her…and took the victim to the third suspect who also forcefully sexually penetrated her and was later released,” the PPC said.

A 22-year-old man from Kari village in Manus was arrested and charged over the pack rape incident.

PPC Yapu described the actions of the penetrators as animalistic and people with sick minds who have no respect for females.

He appealed to the other two suspects to voluntarily surrender to Police or they will go out in full force to get them.
