Station of the cross preview

This Easter Catholics and faithful’s in the nation’s capital will once again walk the Stations of the Cross tomorrow morning as part of their Easter ritual.

According to the Archdiocese of Port Moresby the route will start at the Mary Queen of Pacific Parish at 4am led by the parishioners and UPNG Students.

Station 2 will be at Waigani Office which will be lead with the prayers by Martin de Poress then on to the Somare Foundation where the third station will be led by St Peter Channel and Holy Name of Jesus Parish.

The fourth station at Courts will be led by St Joseph’s parishioners and Anglican followed by the fifth station at RSPCA led by St Mary’s Cathedral parishioners.

At the Islander village junction, Christ the King parishioners will lead with station 6 then onto station 7 at Vision city where the Holy Rosary parishioners will lead.

Over to Waigani Traffic for station 8, Mary Help of Christians parishioner will lead then St John parishioner will be waiting at station 9 at Ensisi.

The procession will then move onto to station 10 which will be at UPNG, led by Sacred Heart Parishioners, then over to POM Nats where St Michael’s/ Baruni Parishioners will lead.

From POM Nats the cross will then be carried to the Rainbow roundabout will be looked after by the Military and police chaplaincies

From Rainbow roundabout the St Charles L’wanga parishioners will carry the cross to Waikele market at Gerehu St 6 by St Paul parishioners.

PNG Archbishop John Ribat is encouraging all Catholics and believers alike to take part in this annual act of faith.

He says that the Stations of the Cross should serve not only as a reminder of the suffering that Jesus Christ went through to die on the cross but also an opportunity for many to reconnect with the core principles of the Christian faith.
