Josephine Kaola is the latest participant in the U.S. Embassy’s International Visitors Leadership Program on Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Management, from April 13 to May 4.
Kaola will start her U.S. program in Washington DC then travel to Greensboro North Carolina, Jackson Mississippi, Little Rock Arkansas, Montgomery Alabama, New Orleans Louisiana, Salt Lake City Utah, and New York.
She is a social worker by profession and she is currently the Project Coordinator with HOPE worldwide, a faith based organisation serving communities focusing on health-related programs in PNG.
Her demonstrated skills in leadership and her passion to do things differently in implementing the HIV/AIDS program, while interacting with key population, has been outstanding.
This IVLP program will highlight the role of the non-profit sector in U.S. society and the ways that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) promote an educated, engaged civil society, a cornerstone of democracy.
“I hope that through this IVLP program, I can learn how to use innovative ideas to do fundraising in order to sustain impactful programs,” said Kaola.
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. The goal of the IVLP is to provide firsthand knowledge about U.S. society, culture and politics, while cultivating lasting relationships.
By connecting current and emerging leaders from around the world with their American counterparts, IVLP fosters lasting relationships and helps strengthen U.S. engagement with international partners.
