Slight increase in vehicle thefts: NCD police

There has been a slight increase in vehicle thefts, continuous violation of traffic rules and petty crimes in the nation’s capital.

The long Easter weekend saw only four major incidents taking place around the city.

This includes a case of wilful murder at Gordon, a murder case at Talai settlement, another case of break-and-enter and wilful murder at Gerehu and a shooting at the motel.

The cases are currently being investigated.

NCD metropolitan superintendent, Perou N’Dranou, said as per the reports, suspects of the cases have been picked up and apprehended.

“Looking at the situation report from last week, the crime rate has been maintained at a manageable rate and we are looking at getting the public to observe the laws in place and doing their part in helping in the fight against illegal activities.”

Residents have been urged to be aware of the presence of police out on the streets, especially during this time leading up to the APEC meets and events.
