Sir Peter urges Madang MPs to work together

The former governor of Madang, Sir Peter Barter, is calling on all the Madang MPs to work together for the good of the province.

He said being a former Governor and Minister of the state, he always refrains from making comments on sitting MPs but urged them to work together and develop the province.

He said the MPs have been elected by the people and they must bring services to the people who mandated them.

Meantime, Sir Peter also raised concerns that Madang and the country as a whole is not really attracting good investors into the country.

He said the influx of Asians in Madang have raised eyebrows as to how they have entered the province.

He added that most of these Asians are taking over jobs that were supposed to be given to locals.

“You just have to walk into a shop and you will see all these Asian working as shopkeepers and shop assistants.

“These are localized jobs that our people can do.”

Speaking as a businessman, Sir Peter said Madang can do better by developing tourism and agriculture in the province.

He is calling on the Government to be strict on investors coming into the country and screen them thoroughly to make sure they are genuine investors.
