SHP alcohol ban still in place

Alcohol Ban imposed by SHP provincial government due to the growth in crime and lawlessness still stands.

The liquor ban operations in the province will continue on into the New Year celebrations and festivities.

Southern Highlands Provincial Police commander Sibron Potape says the ban was imposed by the provincial government in 2010 and still stands.

Police will not accept anyone found with any form of alcohol in or around the communities.

Anyone caught to be in possession of any sort of alcohol will face a fine of K1,000 or serve one year in prison.

“Everyone in the province is urged to celebrate in a peaceful manner in welcoming the New Year and assist police where necessary.”
