Scholarships for Central Province students

The Kila Haoda Scholarships for Central Province students attending tertiary and theological institutes is on again and applications have opened.

K2 million is allocated to subsidise students’ tuition fees where each student will be subsidised K2, 000 each of the total fee and the rest will be paid by parents or guardians.

The scholarship scheme has given a second chance to parents in the province who have lost hope in meeting the tuition fees.

Governor Haoda said the goal for this program is to assist those parents to continue to educate their children to better their families’ well-being, the Central Province and contribute to the development of PNG.

Haoda says Central Province has always been on top in the past until a few years  and therefore the provincial government is making it its business to put Central Province back to its past glory days.

The Governor and his office last year spent over K2 million last year since the launch of the scholarship program in 2013.

Haoda added that over K6.2m has been used by the Provincial Government on this scholarship since taking office in 2012 while most of the funds have been spent on the renovations of primary and elementary schools in the districts of the province.

This scholarship Program started in 2013 and has continued for the past three years with more than three thousand students passing out of this scholarship program already.
