The Boroko District court will hear submissions next week on what penalty the court should impose on a public servant from New Ireland who was found guilty for being in possession of pornographic pictures.
The 58 -year-old man was found guilty after a trial was conducted at the Summary Offense court at Boroko.
The court found that on Sept 30 last year, the man took nude pictures of a woman (identity withheld) on his mobile phone after a sexual encounter. The woman gave consent to have her pictures taken.
A month later, his wife came across the pictures, which were stored in his Samsung mobile phone. She then reported the matter to police, which led to his arrest.
The man was arrested on Oct 21, 2016, and charged with being in possession of pornographic articles.
He was charged under section 25(1) (A) of the Summary Offense act. This charge has a penalty fine not exceeding K2,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year, or both.
During the trial, he told the court then that the materials were made for personal purposes and not for public consumption.
Magistrate Alex Kalandi on Tuesday adjourned the case to Jan 17, where parties will make submissions before him on the penalty the court should impose on the man (name withheld).
He remains on an extended bail of K300 with conditions.
